Body very elongate and deeply compressed with keeled abdomen (devoid of scutes).Dorsal profile of body nearly straight. Head compressed and naked. Dorsal profile of head straight and ventral profile convex. Eye small. Large superior mouth with 2 elongated canine teeth pointing forward in upper jaw. Series of canine teeth in both jaws. Body covered with minute, decidous cycloid scales. Lateral line absent. Pectoral and pelvic fins with axillary scale. Pelvic fin minute, situated at middle region of body. Anal fin origin just below dorsal fin origin. Anal fin base more than 2 times that of dorsal fin base. Dept range ?-120 m |
