Upper body base of scales darkest, dark silvery with reflections. Lower belly shiny and silvery. Pelvic and anal fins dark grey. Pectoral dusky yellowish. Dorsal and anal fins with darker margins. Dorsal fin spine often silvery. Caudal fin margin blackish. |
Spesific Description |
Body deep compressed. Mouth terminal, with more than 3 molar teeth on jaws. Canine teeth in front. Operculum with a small spine. Premaxilla overlapping maxilla at end. Maxilla reaching below middle of pupil. Single dorsal fin, spines not elongated but stout, appear alternately broad and narrow on either side; base of soft ray shorter and lower than spinous part, only last spine equal to soft rays. Pectoral large and long, reaching anal base. Pelvic fin with a strong spine, tip reaching only to anus axillary scale at base, 2nd anal spine strong, much longer than 3rd, flatted laterally. Anal fin short based. Scales ctenoid, adhesive; 4 scales between 1st spine to lateral line; 3 rows between median dorsal and lateral line. Scales large. Dorsal and anal with scaly sheath. Caudal fin slightly forked with rounded lobes. |
