Body Color | Body silvery grey with about 40-50 dark vertical wavy stripes on bars, sometimes breaking up into spots ventrally. Juveniles are about 20 cm in standard length and have only about 20 bars or stripes. |
Spesific Description | Body elongate and compressed. Eye small with rudimentary adipose eyelid around eye. Snout pointed. Large terminal mouth with strong, compressed and pointed canine teeth in both jaws. Valliform teeth present on vomer and palatine.Preoperculum feebly denticulated on lower part of margin, margin rounded with notch at the middle region. Operculum rounded. Lateral line complete the wavy, abruptly bent downward below 2nd dorsal fin. 1st dorsal fin spinous, decreasing in height posteriorly, lower than 2nd dorsal fin. Soft rays of 2nd dorsal fin yellowish and white tip. Upper part of caudal fin yellowish. Caudal fin base with 2 small keels and 1 larger keel in between. Dept range 10-70 m |
